Marks Auspicious Commencement of 

New Catechism Academic Year - 2026-27

​PERMANNUR, JUNE 7, 2026: The spiritual vibrant atmosphere of St. Sebastian Church, Permannur, was heightened today as the parish community gathered for the solemn inauguration of the Catechism classes for the academic year 2026-27.

​The day commenced with a beautiful and meaningful procession. Children, accompanied by their supportive parents and dedicated catechism teachers, walked in unity toward the altar, symbolizing a shared journey of faith and spiritual growth.

​A Solemn Eucharistic Celebration

​The Holy Eucharistic Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Rajesh Rosario, the Rector of St. Joseph Seminary, Mangalore. Joining him in the celebration were Rev. Fr. Andrew Leo D’Souza, Parish Priest of St. Sebastian Church, Permannur, and Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Melvin D’Souza.

​During the inaugural ceremony, the profound importance of catechism in shaping the moral and spiritual foundation of the youth was vividly explained to the congregation.

​Inspiring Homily on Corpus Christi and Faith Formation

​Coinciding with the feast of Corpus Christi (The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ), Rev. Fr. Rajesh Rosario delivered a deeply moving homily. He eloquently connected the mystery of the Eucharist to daily Christian living, emphasizing that catechism is not just a classroom subject but a vital tool for deep spiritual formation. He called upon both children and parents to actively engage in this faith journey, noting that parents are the primary educators of faith to their children.

​Blessing of the Animators

​A key highlight of the liturgy was the formal blessing of the catechism teachers. Rev. Fr. Andrew Leo D’Souza invoked God’s grace upon the teachers, commissioning them to inspire, guide, and nurture the young minds of the parish in the Catholic faith.

​The presence and support of Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Melvin D’Souza, along with a large turnout of the faithful, made the inauguration a deeply memorable and community-driven success
