Independence Day Celebration - ICYM Permannur

15 August 2026:  The Independence Day Celebration was organized by the ICYM Permannur Unit at St. Sebastian Church, Permannur, on 15th August 2026.

The celebration began with the Holy Mass at 6:00 a.m. The liturgy was conducted by the ICYM Permannur Unit. 

Following the Holy Mass, the stage programme and flag-hoisting ceremony were held in front of St. Sebastian Auditorium. The programme was compered by Ms Pramitha. The programme began with a prayer led by Ms Merel and team, followed by the welcome address by Mr Wilson Tellis, President of ICYM Permannur.

The National Flag was hoisted by Rev. Fr. Andrew Leo D’Souza, ICYM Permannur Unit Director, along with the dignitaries. This was followed by an inspiring Independence Day speech by Rev. Fr. Andrew Leo D’Souza, highlighting the importance of freedom, unity, patriotism, and responsibility among the youth.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Ms Rishal Shaina Montheiro, Secretary of ICYM Permannur. The celebration was conducted successfully with the active participation of the ICYM members, dignitaries, and parish community. It was a meaningful occasion that brought everyone together to celebrate the spirit of Independence, unity, and service to the nation.
