Elders Day Celebration

Date: 26 July 2026

Venue: Nirmala Convent, Ullal

Organised by: YCS Permannur Unit

The YCS Permannur Unit organised an Elders Day Celebration at Nirmala Convent, Ullal, on 26 July 2026 to honour and appreciate the elderly sisters for their love, care, wisdom, and dedicated service.

Before visiting the convent, the YCS members gathered at the parish and lovingly prepared handmade greeting cards, flowers, and small gifts for each elderly sister as a token of gratitude and appreciation. These were presented to the sisters to express their heartfelt thanks and best wishes.

The programme began at 11.00 a.m. in the presence of the elderly sisters of the convent. It was hosted by Ms Rishal Crasta, YCS Secretary. The celebration commenced with a prayer service led by Glenisha and team, followed by a welcome address by Ms Glenisha D'Souza, President.

A variety of cultural programmes and fun games were then conducted. The sisters enthusiastically participated in all the games and activities, creating an atmosphere of joy and togetherness. They also delighted everyone by performing action songs with great enthusiasm, making the celebration even more lively and memorable. Prizes were distributed to the winners by Fr Melwin D'Souza, Assistant Director of YCS Permannur Unit. As a token of love and remembrance, the handmade greeting cards, flowers, and gifts were presented to all the sisters by the YCS members.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Ms Kenisha Lobo, Treasurer. This was followed by lunch, which was served to all the sisters and YCS members. The celebration ended with a group photograph taken with the Superior, the sisters, and the YCS members.

The celebration served as a beautiful reminder to honour and appreciate the love, care, wisdom, and guidance that our elders provide. It encouraged everyone to respect them, spend quality time with them, and cherish the values, traditions, and life lessons they pass on to future generations.

The YCS Permannur Unit remains committed to organising such meaningful programmes in the future. We encourage everyone to spend quality time with their elders and express gratitude for their invaluable presence. We sincerely thank all the YCS members and animators whose dedicated efforts made this programme a great success.
